Are you a nursing student, new nurse, or aspiring nurse, learning to trust God amid uncertainty?
Every nurse’s journey has a moment when fear starts to speak louder than faith. This can occur before your first clinical rotation, while studying for a major exam, or during orientation as you try to remember policies, medication safety, charting, patient care, and communication—while appearing confident even when you feel anything but.
You might find yourself quietly questioning:
– “Am I really called to this?”
– “What if I make a mistake?”
– “Am I strong enough?”
– “What if I fail?”
If you have ever felt this way, you are not alone. My first moment of fear occurred in the very first semester of nursing school. I remember waiting anxiously to see if I passed a nursing course, and I passed by just a decimal point. It was also at that moment that I realized I had no other options—nursing was it for me. I made a commitment to fully dedicate my time to my studies and to focus on life situations that would help me succeed, such as working overtime while my son was with his grandparents over the summer.
The nursing journey is beautiful but also challenging. It requires you to grow in knowledge, skill, compassion, confidence, and emotional strength all at once. When you’re new, it can feel like you’re carrying more than you know how to handle. Believe me, I understand. I was young, fresh out of high school, and new to nursing, transitioning from a cashier at a fast-food restaurant to a professional.
This is why I want to remind you to:
Choose FAITH over fear.
I created the “Faith Over Fear” series on the All One Nurse Podcast to encourage you and help you learn how to release fear, lean on God, and continue growing through difficult seasons. Part 1 of the serie focuses on overcoming fear and doubt, building emotional resilience, preparing for challenges, enduring through tough times, and remembering that no storm lasts forever.
In the coming four days, we will explore each segment of this four-part series in detail, culminating in an inspiring discussion on the podcast with Allissa, RN, BSN, known as the Faith Over Fear Nurse.

When Fear Shows Up in Your Nursing Journey
Fear does not always appear dramatic. Sometimes, fear manifests as overthinking before and after clinicals or long shifts. It may look like comparing yourself to another student or nurse who seems to have all the answers.
Other times, it feels like anxiety before a handoff report, hesitation before speaking up, or shame after a mistake.
Fear may whisper, “You are behind.” Faith reminds you, “You are growing.”
Fear may say, “You are not ready.” Faith says, “God is preparing you.”
Fear may assert, “You are not enough.” Faith responds, “God’s strength is made perfect in weakness.”
As a human, you will encounter hard moments. You will face pressure, uncertainty, correction, grief, and responsibility, not only in the nursing space. However, fear does not have to be the foundation on which you build your career. You can acknowledge fear without allowing it to lead you. You can be honest about your nervousness while still moving forward. Pray, study, ask questions, seek mentorship, and keep showing up. That is faith in motion
