FAITH OVER FEAR SERIES Part 2: Replacing Fear with Faith

“Comparison is a thief.”

Let’s explore practical steps to move forward in a positive way, no matter where you are in your nursing journey. In Part 2 of the Faith Over Fear series, I remind you that fear can distort the truth, but faith restores clarity. This episode discusses joy, community, comparison, and trusting God while waiting for personal breakthroughs.

This message is vital for every new and aspiring nurse because comparison is one of the fastest ways to lose confidence.

There are many nurses doing many things, but each nurse has their own unique qualities. Think about car sales people there are many, but there’s always one that connects with you and makes you feel like they truly have your best interests at heart. The same unique qualities reside within you.

You might look at someone else’s journey and wonder why they advanced faster, learned quicker, got hired sooner, or seem more comfortable in their role. However, their journey is not your assignment. God is not asking you to become a copy of someone else; He is shaping you for the patients, families, teams, and communities you are called to serve.

Replacing Fear with Faith

Having faith does not mean you will never feel nervous. It means you choose to trust God, even when the outcome is not yet clear.

Faith might look like reviewing your notes again. It might mean asking for help instead of pretending you understand everything. It involves celebrating another nurse’s success without feeling that it diminishes your own. Faith includes saying, “Lord, I am scared, but I trust You to guide me.”

In my own recent experience of volunteering to speak at a virtual event for college students considering a nursing career, God showed me that He only requires our obedience. Though the event was canceled, it allowed me to meet Chad E. Foster, who went blind in college while studying to become a nurse and now speaks about Blind Ambition. He left me fully convinced that I am exactly where I’m meant to be—podcasting and interviewing other nurses to share their stories of failure, success, and resilience. God is truly amazing.

Next, we will dive into a topic that no one wants to lead in: mistakes.
